Dave started his insurance sales career in 1980, and from 1982 - 1986, was a partner in an insurance agency located in Twin Falls, ID. In 1999, Dave purchased the branch office of Harris Dean Insurance, forming Wheat & Associates. Dave specializes in commercial lines business, and holds a designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He is the past President of the Spokane Independent Insurance Agents, and previous board member of the WA State Independent Insurance Agents.

Tena Wheat, AAI, CPIW, CIC began her insurance career in 1971, working for an insurance company in California. In 1974, she moved to the independent agency side of the business, and has since concentrated her career in commercial lines and benefits. In 1991, Tena co-founded Northcreek Insurance Services located in Woodinville, WA. In 1996, she moved to Spokane to help co-found Wheat & Associates with her husband, Dave. Tena is actively involved in the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals, and is the "go-to" agent for both business and health insurance for the green industry state-wide. She is past President of the Spokane County Independent Agents and Brokers Association for 2008/2009.

Zac Wheat graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2001 with a degree in Business. After a succesful career in real estate development, Zac moved from California in 2008 and joined Wheat and Associates. He specializes in writing an array of commercial accounts focusing on contractors, developers, and lessor’s risk accounts.

After earning a B.A. in Business Administration & Risk Management and Insurance from Washington State University, Dan worked several years for Safeco Insurance. Dan joined Wheat & Associates in 2001 and specializes in business insurance. He achieved his CIC designation from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors in July of 2004.

A graduate of Eastern Washington University in 1992, Mitch earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and has been working with the personal lines insurance industry since that time. Mitch has been with Wheat and Associates Insurance as personal lines sales manager since August of 2004.

Stacy started with Dave Wheat in 1995 as the receptionist. Shortly thereafter, she moved into personal lines and managed that department for 7 years. In 2003, she moved into the commercial lines department where she has served as Tena’s account manager since. In 2010, she assumed the bookkeeping duties and at the end of 2011 was given the title of office manager.

Brendon joined Wheat & Associates in 2011 after 5 years working as a Syndication Analyst and Commercial Underwriter in New York. He specializes in writing a wide variety of commercial accounts, with a specialty in Contractors, Property Owners/Managers, Restaurants/Bars, and Childcare Centers.. Brendon is currently an active member of several local organizations, including: Spokane Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA); Washington State Pest Management Association (WSPMA); and Eastern Washington Day Care Council (EWDCC).

Derek graduated from WSU in 1998, and successfully worked in the building industry dealing with architects, engineers, private companies, and government agencies. Derek joined Wheat and Associates in 2008, where he focuses on all types of commercial accounts to include habitational, commercial properties, and contractors. Derek is a member of Greater Spokane Inc, Washington Association of Landscape Professionals, and has also worked with Wishing Star Foundation.
